Beautiful football...? And some rubbish about voice acting.

My God what is this Joga Bonito thing? I dunno give the ad a click if it is still on the top.

Meanwhile I saw the dub of Steamboy and some of the accents were comedic. It was meant to be all Manc but sounded more Bolton. Check out Paddy Stewart and all and Make It So.

Haven't you seen Star Trek The Next Generation?... (That's not your joke so don't use it!)

Stephen and the Hidden TV Channel. In The Sky or something....

So that damn Rapture TV channel still lies in a place that GOD DAMN IT (blasphemy sorry mummy) that I cannot find. Now after some careful detective work some guy on a forum has just told me it is on Sky Tv Channel 288. Hmm... I think I tried that, but hey we'll see.

Personally I have not see Wolf's Rain but of course FMA... well we know how that turned out... I watched the last ep before heading out to work (about 3:00pm) and I felt a bit... erm is that how it ends??

I preferred the earlier, more fun eps than all that Homunculus a-go-go stuff. If you don't know what that means.... don't worry neither do I.

(Hope I can get out of placement early...)

Still haven't mentioned El Hazard!

Yep I found some eps of this that I had not seen, as in the later OAVS and of course the TV series. They sucked. The original Original Video Animation (OVA) series, however, whips the friggin' Lama's ass! It's sort of got this Arabian nights feel where these kids and their alcoholic teacher get sucked into the mythical world of El Hazard with their alcoholic teacher. Who has super powers when sober! And Wicked super powers when he runs out of cigarettes! How novel! That's what I call health promotion!

I remember starting to watch this series when it came out as a kid, along  with Tenchi but I actually did not see much of it until I was erm 25 (born again anime fan at 22)... Oops

Oh yeah it also has the most evil kid I have yet to see in the form of Jinnai who even betrays his little sis to go lead an army of giant insects (?). See, this series is inventive but not pretentious like the stuff you get today. Bring back the humble OAV! Oh actually don't cos then I'll feel guilty for downloading em all...

If you remember this series you are officially 'old'

Mysterious Cities of Gold. Good old Esteban and his daft mates ey? Yes I remember this series on children's BBC with Philip Schofield talking a load of bollocks and singing the theme tune and that. The Japanese title was Taiyo No Ko Esteban (literally Esteban: Child of the Sun. In reverse... Let's not go there with Japanese pronunciation. i had to give the library book back on it...)

Anyhoo, I'm slowly learning to accept that people do not read my blog to hear my bland waffling about Japanese cartoons. However, for the sake of posterity, I would like to continue writing about my hobby. Because everyone I know hates it! Oh well.

Enfant du soliel... Sorry that's French. By the way, Esteban is a Spanish variation on, yup Stephen.

Stephen Cross in Spanish= Esteban Cruz

And in French... Etienne Croix...

A list of anime that took friggin' ages to come out in the UK

This is kind of a moot point now in this wonderful age where everyone relies on HK bootlegs and fansubs. Wonderful.. (I cry every night knowing that I HURT the creators of lowly UHF Station Anime in Japan, who have to pay to air their shows and make money back on merchandise).

Anyhoo...

Mobile Suit Gundam

I think this took something like, uh 25 years to come out. Started in Japan in April 1979 a few days after I was born. The movies were 'officially' released by Biz in the UK earlier this year. No dub, the same as my HK edition... Hmm. Are they really all bootlegs?...

Macross

No he is not called bloody Rick Hunter.

Slayers

Okey dokey, this one actually STILL has not come out and is perhaps a bit too 'Shonen' (young boy) for many tastes... but I just think all of the jokes about Lina Inverse being flatchested are funny. Sorry.

Trigun

Good old Vash The Stampede. Been on r1 for 5 years. Uk dvd however 6 months. And still only about volume 3... (No I DID'T buy them... i know the value of money. Yes I might... ahem have seen it.)

Ah bored with this:

FMA, Gundam Seed, Excel Saga, Chobits, G Gundam, Turn A Gundam, Various Gundam OAVs, X TV, Erm... ROD TV.

Bollocks to this. BTW if you go to college with me:

nuuuuuuuuuuuh.

See ya.

By the way behold my idea of a protocol droid (wait that would suggest a phallic obsession...)

For mash get smash.

Anime that YOU should watch! Unless you think it's stupid! Then YOU ARE A FOOL!!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm going to make a list right here, right now of some of the best anime of the past couple of years and stick some pretty pictures of them here and a description. After this I'm going in the shower and then I'm going to work. Let's go!

Fafner

The more cynical among us will compare this one to Evangelion: similar story, the main character is forced to pilot a GIANT ROBOT by his dad, and agonises about it. However, this story is about a whole lot more and focuses on an island where all of the children have been brought up thinking that the world around them was as normal, when really it was all but destroyed by  the Festums. The festums are strange aliens who ask the question 'Who are you' to their victims. The names are lifted from Wagner's The Ring Cycle. Oh yeah, and it has 2 titles for each ep as is the modern fashion. The series subtitle is Dead Aggressor.

Azumanga Daioh!

Yep this used to be my header image so I decided it's time I went into why. You see, it's a show about a bunch of high school girls (no, I'm not a perv) and their two female teachers. I can't even begin to describe it's humour, but I will say it translates really well for a Japanese show. Oh yeah and the two teachers are a lot like me and my friend Dave when we're drunk. Except they are women. And 2d.

Gundam Seed

Going through my archives, you may notice that I was hooked on it's sequel series Gundam Seed Destiny, but you HAVE to see this first. The main character Kira is just fantastic, and his second MS Freedom s my favouritest big robot of all time. I like it better than Optimus Prime, who I liked age 7. If you don't like giant robots and think they are stupid , this series will seriously make you cry like a little girl! Cry you heartless bastard!

Tsubasa Chronicle

This is based on Tsubasa Reserve Chronicle, the manga by CLAMP, all-girl studio. It has the characters from Sakura in a new environment/universe. I think it grows on you but it is sort of slow. It crosses over with XXXholic, another CLAMP manga and the movie just came out in Japan! It isn't licensed yet so go to http://www.animesuki.com for the fansubs. NOW.

Ten minutes to go: Keep going!

Full Metal Panic!

I'm not crazy about this one, as I think it's several incarnations should have more of a mix of action and romantic comedy. Just so you know the first anime is the action title and the second is more romantic comedy. And the third is downloading now before I have to buy it! (Cause I won't be... Still my frickin' bandwidth!)

Ok one more...

Midori Days

This one is about a girl who has a crush on a guy so much she magically becomes his right hand! I haven't seen it yet but heard great things. I just think it sounds funny!

Well that's it! If you've never seen anime go and watch it and show any kids you know the stuff that's suitable! If you want to that is...

Shower now. See ya!

Fullmetal Alchemist!!!!!!

I want one of those pocket watches. They sell them on ebay dead cheap from Hong Kong. Probably plastic.

My dad will probably tell me to stop watching cartoons. THEY ARE NOT CARTOONS. Well yeah they are but they're 'animation'. God now everyone at college probably reads this... Hello.

Well nothing happened this week except my neck is getting better slowly, my work team leader became the most stressed man in the world and suffered several angina attacks. He is well under 30.

Oh God I screwed the blog up again...

See ya. (that was a loong post...)

Gundam Seed Destiny: the end. Yeah right they're doing an OAV and a series.

Yep it's over and the ending was TOO soon because they kept putting in clip shows. I think the show was a bit too ambitious for it's own good. Well, I'm gonna try and get back into Tsubasa and Fafner ad check out those cool new shows on AnimeSuki that aren't licensed. I like to get Newtype every month, but have been broke this month cos of my car, but as I have been home a lot I should be able to spring for it this week.

Join Me In Prayer (well the secular Humanist equivalent)

I just wanna say that erm... well I don't want ANY of the main Gundam Seed Destiny Charas to die. That includes Shinn (my man he's psycho) and Athrun and Kira and Ray and Lunamaria. Yeah Guys on the Minerva and Archangel let's see an end to war and have a happy ending in this world of suicide bombers, fundamentalists blowing things up and politicians who just go and blow up the countries of these fundamentalists. Cos let's face it to Uncle T ony and Mr Bush a London bus is worth 75 mosques... Where will it all end?(wasn't I just talking about an anime?! Well Gundam Seed and Destiny are very post 9/11 in my eyes. I think there's a lesson in those purty pictures of stuff blowing up if you look hard enough). Peace out.

Apologies to the NMC...

Ok when I said she was 'stacked for a 15 year old' I meant the character design was unrealistic. I AM NOT A PERVO LOLITA COMPLEX GUY who tries it on with young girls.

Oh yeah that link for Bandai's site doesn't work. Sorry!
